Senior Marketing Data Analyst

GitLab is looking for a Senior Marketing Data Analyst to join our Data and Analytics team. As a Senior Marketing Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in enabling data-driven decision-making within the marketing department and beyond. You will be responsible for analyzing complex marketing data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to optimize marketing campaigns and strategies.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with marketing teams to understand their data needs, define key metrics, and develop self-service reporting solutions.
  • Design and implement data models, dashboards, and reports using various data visualization tools (e.g., Sisense, Tableau, Looker) to monitor marketing performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of marketing campaign performance, including attribution modeling, ROI analysis, and customer segmentation, to provide actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and availability for analysis.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and other data professionals to ensure data quality, governance, and compliance.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and innovative data solutions to enhance marketing effectiveness.
  • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels, communicating complex data insights in a clear and concise manner.
  • Mentor junior data analysts and contribute to the development of data best practices within the organization.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in marketing analytics and data science.

What you’ll bring

  • 8+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field, with a focus on marketing analytics.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with large datasets.
  • Demonstrated experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Sisense, Tableau, Looker) and building interactive dashboards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and modeling techniques (e.g., regression, segmentation, clustering).
  • Familiarity with marketing platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Marketo, Google Analytics) and their data structures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics) or equivalent practical experience.
  • A passion for data-driven decision-making and a curiosity for uncovering insights.
  • Experience working remotely and in a distributed team environment.
