Job Description

As a Hydrological Engineer, you will be responsible for applying engineering principles to the study of water, its movement, distribution, and quality. You will play a crucial role in water resource management, dam safety, and flood management projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop hydrologic models for water resource management.
  • Conduct hydrologic analyses for dam safety, flood management, and water supply projects.
  • Provide technical advice on hydrologic issues to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in fieldwork for data collection and site investigations.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and other documentation.

Prerequisites:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree in a related field would be considered an asset.

Experience:

  • 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in hydrology or water resources engineering.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in hydrologic modelling software (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS).
  • Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).

Other Requirements:

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
