Senior Validation Reviewer

Overview

As a Senior Validation Reviewer, you will play a critical role in reviewing and validating complex financial models and risk assessments. You will ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and internal policies, contributing to the overall integrity and accuracy of our financial reporting. This position requires a deep understanding of financial modeling, risk management, and regulatory frameworks, particularly within the energy and utilities sector. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide expert recommendations, and mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews and validations of financial models, risk assessments, and quantitative analyses.
  • Assess model methodologies, assumptions, data quality, and control environments to identify potential weaknesses and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., SR 11-7, Dodd-Frank, CCAR) and internal validation policies.
  • Prepare detailed validation reports, clearly articulating findings, recommendations, and their potential impact.
  • Present validation results and recommendations to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with model development teams to understand model intricacies and facilitate effective challenge.
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of validation methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior validation staff, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices, regulatory developments, and emerging risks in financial modeling and risk management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in financial model validation, risk management, or quantitative analysis within the financial services or energy/utilities industry.
  • Strong understanding of financial products, risk types (credit, market, operational), and regulatory frameworks.
  • Expertise in various modeling techniques (e.g., regression, time series, machine learning) and statistical concepts.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SAS, or MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with financial software and platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Aladdin).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Professional certifications such as FRM, CFA, or PRM are a plus.
  • Experience with energy commodity markets, power plant operations, or utility regulatory environments is a significant advantage.
