As Manager – Accounting (Compensation), you will be a critical part of the Kraken finance organization, responsible for the global accounting, analysis, and reporting for compensation, benefits, and payroll. This is a unique opportunity to build out the global accounting function for one of the most exciting and innovative companies in the world.
Responsibilities
- Lead the global accounting, analysis, and reporting for compensation, benefits, and payroll globally.
- Manage and mentor a growing team of Accountants (Compensation).
- Oversee the preparation of detailed account reconciliations for all compensation-related accounts.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable accounting standards and regulations related to compensation.
- Collaborate with Payroll, HR, and FP&A teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of compensation-related transactions and data.
- Drive process improvements and efficiencies within the compensation accounting function.
- Support financial audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations related to compensation.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed, including system implementations and new product launches.
- Manage global equity accounting including system implementations, close activities, reconciliations, reporting, and disclosures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership/management role focusing on compensation, benefits, and payroll.
- Strong technical accounting skills with a deep understanding of GAAP related to compensation.
- Experience with global equity accounting is preferred.
- Experience with Netsuite and Workday preferred.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in the crypto industry is a plus.
