Director, Business Development – Medical Equipment/Devices

The Director, Business Development will own and drive the Business Development Strategy, Execution, and results for the North America Medical Device Business Unit. This role will be an individual contributor reporting to the VP, Commercial for the North America Medical Device Business Unit. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of growing contract manufacturing services in the Medical Device industry.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive and own the development and execution of the Business Development strategy and results for the North America Medical Device Business Unit.
  • Direct all new business development activities related to identifying, evaluating, and pursuing new opportunities within the Medical Device sector across North America.
  • Develop a strong pipeline of opportunities via research, networking, cold calling, and direct marketing.
  • Establish and grow professional relationships with decision-makers at target accounts, ensuring a deep understanding of customer needs and industry trends.
  • Collaborate closely with internal cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, operations, finance, legal) to develop comprehensive proposals and solutions that address customer requirements.
  • Lead the negotiation of contracts and agreements, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company while maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote services and identify new business opportunities.
  • Provide market intelligence and insights to internal teams, contributing to the development of product roadmaps and strategic initiatives.
  • Achieve and exceed assigned sales targets and revenue goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, pipeline status, and customer interactions in CRM system.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Business Development, Sales, or Commercial roles within the Medical Device manufacturing or contract manufacturing industry.
  • Proven track record of success in driving significant revenue growth and securing new business in the Medical Device sector, preferably with experience in high-volume, complex manufacturing solutions.
  • Strong understanding of medical device product development, regulatory pathways (FDA, CE), and market dynamics.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with C-level executives and key stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel frequently (up to 50%) within North America.
  • Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with occasional travel to client sites, industry events, and company offices.
