This position will have a flexible work schedule from an office/home setting. The Claims Examiner role is a key position within a dynamic team setting and is responsible for the handling and resolution of construction defect and other complex liability claims from inception through settlement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interprets and applies policy and coverage to claims.
- Handles claims under a reservation of rights and with proper notice letters.
- Identifies third party contribution sources and coordinates with recovery department.
- Effectively uses negotiation skills to bring claims to an amicable resolution.
- Communicates effectively with claimants, policyholders, and brokers.
- Investigates claims thoroughly and ensures that all claims handled are in good faith.
- Maintains accuracy and timeliness of data entry and reserves.
- Ensures appropriate payments are made in accordance with settlement agreements.
- Travels as needed to conferences, mediations, and training sessions.
- Maintains a high level of performance through quality driven results.
- Participates in team meetings and provides recommendations as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 or more years experience in the handling of construction defect/complex liability claims.
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- A strong knowledge of construction defect litigation, including multi-party litigation, contractual indemnity, tenders, and additional insured issues.
- Ability to read and interpret complex documents.
- Ability to work independently and remotely, with little supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Office suite.
- Relevant adjuster licenses are required.
