Mozilla is looking for a Sr Staff Quantitative User Researcher to join our team to work on projects related to AI in browsers, Web browsing, and consumer-facing AI products and services. You will conduct research that will help us understand user needs and behaviors, identify opportunities for product innovation, and guide product and design decisions related to AI products and services.
As a Sr Staff Quantitative User Researcher, you will be a key player in shaping the research agenda for critical product areas. You will collaborate closely with product management, design, engineering, and data science to drive impact across multiple product teams and strategic initiatives. You will serve as a thought leader and mentor, influencing research methodologies, best practices, and the overall research strategy.

Responsibilities
- Synthesize insights from various research studies (quantitative and qualitative) into a holistic view to inform product and design decisions.
- Consult with and mentor other researchers on quantitative methods, and contribute to building out team standards and best practices for robust quantitative research.
- Take a product-centric view of research activities to identify and prioritize research questions and guide product teams on making data-informed decisions.
- Work closely with data science and data engineering to ensure measurement strategies and data collection are robust.
- Communicate research insights through compelling storytelling, documentation, and data visualization.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of research by identifying future research needs, opportunities for innovation, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other researchers, designers, product managers, and engineers across multiple product teams.
- Take a product-centric view of research activities to identify and prioritize research questions and guide product teams on making data-informed decisions.
- Lead complex projects that span multiple product areas or strategic initiatives.
Prerequisites
- 7+ years of industry experience conducting quantitative user research using a variety of methods.
- Strong statistical analysis skills, including experience with experimental design, causal inference, statistical modeling (e.g., regression, classification), and hypothesis testing.
- Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis using SQL and statistical programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
- Experience collaborating with data science/engineering teams on data collection and measurement strategies.
- Experience working on AI products and services, especially in a consumer-facing context.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex research findings to a diverse audience and influence product strategy.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- A portfolio demonstrating your quantitative user research expertise and impact on product decisions.
Preferred
- PhD or Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Information Science, Statistics, or a related field.
