This role is for an Engineering Manager to lead the Adaptive Telemetry team, which is part of the Telemetry Engineering product area. The Adaptive Telemetry team is building a new capability to help users control the cost and cardinality of their observability data.
What you’ll do
- Lead the Adaptive Telemetry team, coaching and growing your engineers.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Designers, and other Engineering Managers to drive product strategy and successful project delivery.
- Contribute to shaping the roadmap and strategy for the Telemetry Engineering product area.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and customer focus within your team.
- Ensure a high level of quality and operational excellence for the services your team owns.
- Participate in the hiring and onboarding of new engineers to grow the team.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization, including executive leadership.
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in an engineering management role.
- Experience managing teams building backend services at scale, preferably in a cloud-native environment.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and observability principles (metrics, logs, traces).
- Experience with Go, Java, Python, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for building high-performing teams and fostering a positive team culture.
- Ability to balance technical leadership with people management responsibilities.
