Reddit is powered by community and our Senior Business Engineers are essential in improving existing systems, designing new infrastructure, and collaborating on our ad ecosystem. They build and improve tools to empower business partners, scale business operations, and directly impact revenue.
We’re seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Senior Business Engineer to join our Ads Engineering team. You will be responsible for building internal tools and APIs to power the Ads business.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the technical strategy and execution of critical projects, contributing to the overall Ads Business Engineering roadmap.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable internal tools and APIs to support and automate Reddit’s Ads business operations.
- Collaborate closely with Ads Business Operations, Product Management, Data Science, and other Engineering teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, system design, and testing, ensuring high-quality and reliable solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the broader Ads Engineering organization by participating in design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions.
- Proactively identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and operational challenges.
What We’re Looking For:
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on building scalable web applications or internal tools.
- Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C++, Ruby).
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM frameworks.
- Strong understanding of web technologies (e.g., HTTP, REST APIs) and distributed systems.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with advertising technology (ad tech) platforms, data pipelines, or revenue systems.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
