Distributed Systems Engineer 5 – Membership & Monetization Platform

About the Role

Our Membership & Monetization Platform powers the entire member lifecycle, from signup to payment to retention. We own critical infrastructure that handles hundreds of millions of transactions daily across more than 190 countries, processing billions of dollars annually. We are a truly global platform built on a cutting-edge cloud-native architecture, serving as the bedrock for a global subscription business.

We are looking for a highly experienced and passionate Distributed Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in designing, building, and operating the core services and infrastructure that drive our platform’s evolution and scale.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and operate high-scale, resilient, and performant distributed systems.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Contribute to the entire software development lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure the reliability and availability of our critical systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

About You

• You have a strong background in distributed systems design and development, with experience building and operating high-scale, fault-tolerant platforms.
• You are proficient in one or more programming languages commonly used in distributed systems (e.g., Java, Scala, Go, Python).
• You possess excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in a fast-paced environment.
• You are a strong communicator and collaborator, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• You are passionate about learning new technologies and continuously improving your skills.

Desired Skills

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with data streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka, Flink) and big data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark).
• Knowledge of payment processing systems, subscription billing, or financial technology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
