CARE Canada is seeking a Manager, Treasury and Strategic Finance who will be responsible for providing leadership to the Treasury and Strategic Finance function, managing the organization’s treasury operations, banking relationships, and financial risk management activities. This role plays a critical part in supporting CARE Canada’s strategic financial goals and ensuring financial stability and sustainability.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance, the Manager will work closely with other members of the Finance team and cross-functional departments to drive financial excellence and strategic growth. What you’ll do (Key Responsibilities)
1. Treasury Operations Management
- Oversee daily treasury operations, including cash flow management, liquidity forecasting, and short-term investment strategies.
- Manage banking relationships, ensuring efficient and cost-effective banking services.
- Monitor and manage foreign exchange exposures, implementing hedging strategies as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and banking covenants.
2. Strategic Financial Planning and Analysis
- Support the development and implementation of financial strategies that align with the organization’s overall mission and objectives.
- Conduct financial modeling, scenario analysis, and profitability assessments to support strategic decision-making.
- Provide insights and recommendations on financial performance, investment opportunities, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with senior management on long-range financial planning and resource allocation.
3. Financial Risk Management
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, including currency, interest rate, and credit risks.
- Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures.
- Monitor financial markets and economic trends to anticipate potential risks and opportunities.
- Ensure adequate internal controls are in place for treasury activities.
4. Banking and Investment Relationship Management
- Maintain strong relationships with financial institutions, investment managers, and other external partners.
- Evaluate and recommend new banking services, investment products, and financial technologies.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with financial partners to optimize services and costs.
5. Team Leadership and Development
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to direct reports (if applicable) and other team members.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and high performance.
- Support cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing within the finance department.
What you’ll bring (Qualifications)
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, CPA, CTP) preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in treasury, corporate finance, or a similar strategic financial role, preferably within the non-profit sector or international development context.
- Proven experience in cash flow management, financial modeling, risk management, and banking relationship management.
- Experience with financial systems and ERP software (e.g., Serenic Navigator, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) is an asset.
