As a Senior UX Researcher at GitLab, you will work on our AI team. Your work will impact all stages of the product development process, from discovery and ideation to testing and iteration. We are seeking a researcher with significant experience in a remote environment to lead research within the AI Division. You will report to a UX Research Manager. This role requires experience with AI/ML products and/or AI-powered features.
What you’ll do
- Conduct user research at all stages of the product development lifecycle across GitLab AI capabilities.
- Plan, design, and conduct qualitative and quantitative user research studies, including but not limited to, user interviews, usability studies, surveys, and diary studies.
- Analyze research data and synthesize findings into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Advocate for our users through compelling presentations, reports, and workshops.
- Partner with product managers, designers, engineers, and data scientists to influence product strategy and design.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of research processes and best practices within the AI division and broader UX Research team.
- Mentor junior researchers and contribute to a culture of learning and growth within the team.
- Drive impact by understanding and measuring the effect of your research.
- Share research findings and insights across the organization to build a shared understanding of user needs and behaviors.
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years of experience conducting UX research in a product development setting.
- Significant experience with AI/ML products and/or AI-powered features.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in a range of research methods and their application to product development.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote environment.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Engineering, Data Science).
- Demonstrated ability to translate research findings into actionable product recommendations.
- Experience with various qualitative and quantitative research methods (e.g., user interviews, usability testing, surveys, diary studies, field studies).
- Experience with research ethics and data privacy best practices.
- Familiarity with GitLab or other DevOps platforms is a plus.
