The SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) is a member of the Database Operations team responsible for the design, implementation, and support of various SQL Server solutions in highly available environments. This role ensures the stability, security, and performance of our database systems, working closely with application development teams and other IT stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform database administration activities on SQL Server environments including maintenance, monitoring, tuning, backup/recovery, and upgrades.
  • Monitor database performance and capacity to ensure maximum availability and efficiency.
  • Support database infrastructure including high-availability (AlwaysOn Availability Groups) and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Collaborate with application development teams to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance problems, connectivity issues, and data corruption.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
  • Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest SQL Server technologies and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server architecture, T-SQL, and database design.
  • Experience with SQL Server high-availability solutions (AlwaysOn Availability Groups, replication, log shipping, clustering).
  • Proficiency in database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Experience with database backup and recovery strategies.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE) are a plus.
