Mozilla is a pioneer and a long-time leader in localization. We build and maintain localization platforms used to localize Firefox and other Mozilla products in hundreds of languages. We develop innovative tooling to improve the localization quality and velocity while working closely with the localization community.
As a Senior Software Engineer for Localization, you will join our small team of localization experts to build and maintain the services and tools that empower our community to localize Firefox and other Mozilla products. You will have a chance to own and innovate on critical pieces of the localization platform, work across various teams, and help shape the future of localization at Mozilla.
What you’ll do:
Design, build, and maintain our localization services, tools, and infrastructure.
Work across the entire stack, from frontend interfaces to backend services and data stores.
Contribute to our open-source localization platforms, including Pontoon and Compare Locales.
Collaborate with other teams across Mozilla on localization-related topics.
Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
Respond to critical service incidents, debug and resolve production issues.
What you bring:
5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on web applications and services.
Proficiency in Python and familiarity with web frameworks like Django or Flask.
Experience with frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React).
Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
Strong understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices.
Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
A passion for open source and community-driven projects.
Bonus points for:
Experience with localization (l10n) or internationalization (i18n) technologies and processes.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
