Netflix is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Model Inference and Serving team within the AI Platform organization. This team is responsible for building and operating the core platform that powers model inference for hundreds of models and thousands of use cases across Netflix. Our platform is critical for personalized recommendations, content discovery, production systems, and many other business-critical applications. As a manager on this team, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on Netflix’s product and engineering initiatives by providing the foundational infrastructure that enables our data scientists and machine learning engineers to rapidly innovate.
What you will do
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of high-performing engineers.
- Drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Model Inference and Serving platform, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee the design, development, and operation of scalable, reliable, and efficient systems for real-time and batch model inference.
- Collaborate closely with product management, data scientists, machine learning engineers, and other engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver impactful solutions.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables in an agile and fast-paced environment.
- Contribute to the broader AI Platform strategy and initiatives.
- Ensure the team’s systems meet high standards of performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
About You
- 5+ years of experience in engineering management, leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong technical background in distributed systems, machine learning platforms, or large-scale data processing.
- Experience building and operating critical production systems.
- Proven track record of delivering complex technical projects from conception to launch.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and serving technologies is a plus.
- BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
