About the team:
The Phone Numbers team is looking for a Software Engineer to help us build and scale Twilio’s phone number inventory and management systems. As a critical component of Twilio’s platform, the systems we build enable customers to activate and manage phone numbers from a wide range of countries and use cases. We are a fast-paced, high-impact team that enjoys building scalable systems. Join us as we build the next generation of our platform!
What you’ll do:
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to define and build the vision and roadmap for the Phone Numbers team.
- Design and build highly available, fault-tolerant, and globally scalable systems for the activation and management of phone numbers.
- Contribute to the entire software development lifecycle, from concept and design to deployment, operation, and refinement.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Solve complex technical problems with innovative and practical solutions.
- Actively participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team planning sessions.
- Communicate technical decisions and progress effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to our on-call rotation to ensure the reliability and availability of our services.

What you’ll bring:
- 7+ years of professional experience as a software engineer.
- Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C#, C++).
- Experience with designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design principles.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- BS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
