About the Job
The Senior Manager, Platform Engineering leads the Secure Supply Chain Engineering team. This team delivers platform engineering capabilities that underpin the security of Twilio’s software supply chain. We are responsible for building and operating capabilities to manage secrets, manage security configuration, verify software artifacts, and automate secure software delivery pipelines. We are seeking a leader who can deliver on a bold vision for supply chain security while partnering closely with a wide range of stakeholders.
What you’ll do
- As a Senior Manager, Platform Engineering, you will lead a team of talented engineers to design, build, and operate platform services that enhance the security of our software supply chain.
- You will be responsible for defining the team’s roadmap, setting technical direction, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality solutions.
- You will collaborate closely with other engineering teams, security teams, and product managers to understand their needs and integrate security best practices into our development processes.
- You will mentor and grow your team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- You will manage your team’s budget, resources, and project timelines effectively.
- You will represent your team in various forums, communicating progress, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders at all levels.
- You will contribute to the overall architectural vision and strategy for Twilio’s platform engineering.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven experience in building and operating secure, scalable, and resilient platform services.
- Strong understanding of software supply chain security principles, including topics such as artifact signing and verification, secrets management, security configuration, and secure CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, C#) and experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with a proven ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- You are an empathetic leader who can balance technical excellence with team well-being and growth.
