Principal Data Analyst – Geospatial Intelligence

What you will do:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced geospatial data analysis models and algorithms.
  • Extract, transform, and load complex geospatial datasets from various sources, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Conduct in-depth geospatial analysis to identify patterns, trends, and correlations, providing actionable insights.
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate findings effectively.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data-driven solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in geospatial intelligence, data science, and analytics technologies.
  • Mentor junior data analysts and contribute to the growth and development of the data analytics team.
  • Optimize existing data pipelines and processes for efficiency, scalability, and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance policies and best practices.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Geography, GIS, or a related quantitative field.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Data Analyst or in a similar role, with a strong focus on geospatial intelligence.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for data manipulation, analysis, and modeling.
  • Expertise in SQL for querying and managing large datasets.
  • Solid understanding of geospatial concepts, theories, and techniques (e.g., spatial statistics, remote sensing, cartography).
  • Experience with GIS software and tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques applied to geospatial data.
  • Familiarity with web mapping libraries and frameworks (e.g., Leaflet, OpenLayers, Mapbox GL JS).
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Geography, GIS, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
