Reporting to our VP of Product, Design and Research, you will lead a large team of product designers and researchers to define and deliver product experiences that make it radically simpler and faster for solar professionals to design and sell solar.
As the VP of Product Design, you will be responsible for setting the strategic design vision, overseeing the end-to-end design process, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. What you’ll do:
- Lead and inspire a large team of product designers and researchers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Set the strategic design direction and vision for our product portfolio, ensuring alignment with overall company goals and user needs.
- Oversee the end-to-end design process, from research and ideation to prototyping, testing, and implementation.
- Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional user experiences.
- Champion user-centered design principles and best practices throughout the organization.
- Mentor and develop design talent, empowering team members to grow their skills and advance their careers.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating relevant insights into our design strategy.
- Act as a key stakeholder in product strategy and roadmap discussions, advocating for user needs and design excellence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, communicating design strategy and impact effectively.
What we need you to have:
- 15+ years of experience in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful product launches and user-centered design solutions.
- 7+ years of leadership experience, managing and scaling large design teams (20+ designers).
- Proven track record of defining and executing design strategies that drive business impact.
- Deep expertise in UX research methodologies, interaction design, and visual design principles.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong leadership and mentorship abilities, with a passion for developing and empowering design talent.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Experience working in a remote-first or distributed team environment is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
