Engineering Manager, Software Supply Chain Security: Pipeline Security

An Engineering Manager is sought for the Software Supply Chain Security: Pipeline Security team. This role can be based remotely anywhere in the countries listed below. What you’ll do

  • Manage a team of 4-8 Engineers
  • Lead the team by example, by writing code and performing code reviews to ensure system reliability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and other stakeholders to plan and execute the team’s roadmap.
  • Drive the delivery of high-quality software features and improvements within established timelines.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Mentor and coach team members, supporting their professional growth and career development.
  • Participate in the hiring and onboarding of new engineers, contributing to the growth and success of the team.
  • Ensure the team’s alignment with the organization’s overall vision, values, and strategic goals.
  • Monitor and report on team performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
  • Proactively identify and address technical debt and architectural challenges.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, testing, and deployment.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with your team, peers, and leadership.
  • Contribute to the broader community through technical discussions, code reviews, and documentation.

What you’ll bring

  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing a software engineering team, preferably in an all-remote setting.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, with a strong background in backend engineering (e.g., Ruby, Go, Python, Java).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of software supply chain security concepts and tools.
  • Strong understanding of secure coding practices and common web vulnerabilities.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Familiarity with open-source development practices.

The Software Supply Chain Security: Pipeline Security team is responsible for ensuring the security of the software development lifecycle within the platform. This includes developing and maintaining features that detect and prevent vulnerabilities in code, dependencies, and build processes. Our mission is to empower developers to build secure applications with confidence, leveraging the latest security technologies and best practices.

Our team works closely with other security and engineering teams at the organization, as well as with external security researchers and the open-source community. Compensation

The base salary range for this role is between C$178,000 and C$381,000. It also comes with an additional variable component. The compensation offered will depend on various factors, including your location, qualifications, and experience.
