Managing Director of Regional Expertise – Local Client Partnerships

This role will join the Local team and focus on the overall success of Local markets across the country. As the Managing Director, you will provide leadership to our regional expertise and local client partnerships team. This leader will ensure that the Local Client Partnerships team is set up for success to achieve ambitious goals, and that the regional experts are providing best in class support and coverage to Local markets and journalists.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and manage the Regional Expertise team, providing consistent, insightful, and strategic market support to Local leadership, general managers, and journalists.
  • Lead and manage the Local Client Partnerships team, providing the vision, strategy, and leadership to achieve revenue goals.
  • Work closely with the Local senior leadership team (General Manager, Product, Editorial, Operations) to ensure the client partnerships and regional expertise teams are aligned with Local’s strategic goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and internal teams, to drive collaboration and achieve business objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Local editorial team to ensure that local market content is relevant, engaging, and aligned with client needs and business objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to expand Local’s reach and impact, including identifying new markets and growth opportunities.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and client feedback to identify areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor team members, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What you’ll need:

  • 10+ years of experience in leadership roles, with a proven track record of managing high-performing teams and driving revenue growth.
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape, with experience in local markets and client partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Ability to travel as needed.
