An employer is seeking a talented and experienced Employment Counsel to join its dynamic Legal Department. This is an exciting opportunity to provide legal advice and support on a broad range of employment law matters for a global insurance company.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice and counsel to Human Resources and business leaders on various employment law issues, including hiring, termination, performance management, workplace investigations, leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour compliance, and discrimination/harassment claims.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment-related agreements, policies, and procedures.
- Manage and oversee employment litigation, including responding to agency charges and managing outside counsel.
- Conduct and advise on internal investigations regarding employment-related complaints.
- Monitor and analyze developments in employment law, recommending and implementing necessary changes to company policies and practices.
- Deliver training sessions on employment law topics to HR and management.
- Collaborate with other legal department colleagues on cross-functional projects.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience practicing employment law, either in-house or at a law firm.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations (e.g., Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, ADEA).
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with international employment law is a plus.
