Director of Accounting & Finance

The Linux Foundation is seeking a Director of Accounting & Finance to lead our accounting, finance, and treasury functions. This critical role will oversee all financial operations, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and provide strategic financial guidance to support the Foundation’s mission.

The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced, detail-oriented, and strategic finance professional with a strong background in non-profit accounting and a proven track record of managing financial operations effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead the annual audit process and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and investment strategies to optimize financial resources.
  • Provide strategic financial analysis and reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Manage a small team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Utilize and optimize financial systems and software (e.g., NetSuite) to enhance efficiency and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience with non-profit accounting is a plus.
  • Proficiency in financial software, particularly NetSuite, and strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ethical character and commitment to integrity.
