The Ads Privacy Engineering team is seeking an experienced and passionate Staff Privacy Engineer to lead and contribute to the design and development of privacy-preserving systems and solutions for its advertising platform. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring user privacy, compliance with privacy regulations, and building trust with subscribers, while enabling innovative advertising experiences.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and implement privacy-preserving technologies and systems for the advertising platform, ensuring compliance with global privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, LGPD) and internal privacy policies.
- Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) for new features and products within the advertising ecosystem, identifying and mitigating privacy risks.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, legal, and privacy teams to integrate privacy-by-design principles into the entire software development lifecycle.
- Lead technical discussions, architectural reviews, and provide guidance on privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs) and privacy design patterns.
- Develop and maintain privacy-related documentation, including technical specifications, data flow diagrams, and privacy control matrices.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in privacy engineering, data protection regulations, and advertising technologies, applying best practices to solutions.
- Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers, fostering a culture of privacy awareness and responsibility.
What you’ll need
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a significant focus on privacy engineering or data security.
- Strong understanding of global privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, LGPD) and industry best practices.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing privacy-preserving architectures, including data anonymization, pseudonymization, differential privacy, and secure multi-party computation.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and distributed systems.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in the advertising technology (AdTech) domain is a plus.
