About the Job
The Assistant Director for Advanced Analytics within Global Retail Markets (GRM) STP will be a member of the Advanced Analytics organization and will be primarily responsible for developing analytic solutions that support multiple countries (US, Canada, UK, and Europe) and multiple insurance products/functions including Pricing, Underwriting, Marketing, Claims and Distribution.
Responsibilities
- Leads the development and delivery of analytical tools and solutions including statistical models, predictive models and machine learning algorithms that support business needs in multiple countries (US, Canada, UK, and Europe) and multiple insurance products/functions including Pricing, Underwriting, Marketing, Claims and Distribution.
- Provides technical leadership to a team of data scientists and analytics professionals.
- Works with senior management to identify strategic analytical opportunities, scope projects, provide recommendations, and deliver insights.
- Supports the development of short-term and long-term analytical roadmap and capabilities.
- Develops and maintains strong collaborative relationships with relevant stakeholders across the organization including GRM US, GRM Canada, GRM UK, GRM Europe, STP Product, and GRM Technology.
- Presents complex analytical findings and recommendations in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Hires, develops, coaches, and appraises employees.
- Actively promotes a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. Master’s degree or Ph.D. preferred.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in advanced analytics, data science, or related quantitative roles, with a proven track record of delivering impactful analytical solutions.
- 3+ years of experience leading or managing teams of data scientists or analytics professionals.
- Strong proficiency in statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data manipulation techniques.
- Expertise in programming languages commonly used in data science (e.g., Python, R, SQL) and experience with relevant libraries and frameworks.
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for leveraging data to drive business impact.
- Familiarity with insurance industry concepts and data is a plus.
