About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Accounting Lead to join their dynamic finance team. This is a critical role responsible for overseeing the company’s financial accounting and reporting functions, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and other regulatory requirements. The Corporate Accounting Lead will play a pivotal role in managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, preparing financial statements, and coordinating with external auditors. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with strong technical accounting skills and a passion for driving process improvements.
What you’ll do:
- Responsible for the Company’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement close process in accordance with US GAAP, including the preparation of financial statements and all supporting schedules.
- Oversee timely and accurate preparation of consolidated financial statements and reporting for various domestic and international entities.
- Manage the consolidation process of international subsidiaries, including intercompany transactions and eliminations.
- Coordinate with external auditors for the annual financial audit and interim reviews, ensuring timely completion of audit requests.
- Prepare technical accounting memorandums for complex accounting issues (e.g., share-based compensation, debt instruments, derivatives, etc.).
- Support the implementation of new accounting standards and financial systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to the accounting close process, internal controls, and financial reporting.
- Assist with the preparation of materials for the Audit Committee and Board of Directors.
- Assist with the preparation of tax filings, research, and analysis.
- Manage and support other accounting team members in completing their tasks.
- Ad-hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation required.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a corporate accounting role.
- Prior experience with a publicly traded company preferred, but not required.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
- Experience with consolidations, international entities, and intercompany transactions.
- Experience in the mining industry or with mining accounting practices preferred, but not required.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
