You will be responsible for applying advanced statistical methods, machine learning, and computational techniques to a wide range of geoscience datasets. Your work will directly impact our exploration strategies, helping us to identify and prioritize targets with the highest potential.

This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging, real-world problems in a dynamic and collaborative environment. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, geologists, and engineers, leveraging cutting-edge technology to make significant breakthroughs in mineral exploration.

About the Team

Our Data Science team is at the forefront of innovation in mineral exploration. We are a diverse group of highly skilled individuals passionate about applying data-driven approaches to solve complex geological challenges. We foster a culture of intellectual curiosity, continuous learning, and open collaboration. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior team members, contribute to our shared knowledge base, and shape the future of data science within our organization.

In this role, you will…

  • Solve mission-critical problems related to the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of geoscience data.
  • Work closely with data engineers, software engineers, geologists, and domain experts to develop and deploy data science solutions.
  • Collaborate on data exploration and analysis to identify patterns, anomalies, and relationships within complex datasets.
  • Design and implement machine learning models and algorithms to predict mineral deposits, optimize exploration strategies, and assess geological risks.
  • Develop and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines for real-time data ingestion and processing.
  • Communicate complex analytical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our data science methodologies, tools, and best practices.

What you bring to the table…

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Geophysics, Geology, or a related quantitative field; OR Bachelor’s degree with equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in data science, with a proven track record of delivering successful data-driven solutions.
  • Expertise in Python, including data manipulation (e.g., Pandas), scientific computing (e.g., NumPy, SciPy), and machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and experimental design.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights.

We also appreciate skills in…

  • Experience in the mining or geoscience industry.
  • Familiarity with geospatial data processing and visualization tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, GDAL).
  • Experience with parallel computing and GPU-accelerated processing.
  • Knowledge of optimization techniques and simulation methods.

What you get in return…

  • Competitive salary and equity package.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Flexible working hours and remote work options.
  • Generous paid time off and holidays.
