The Opportunity
The Launch Readiness Team is part of the Studio Engineering organization, building the software systems that enable production teams to efficiently deliver amazing shows and movies to Netflix members around the world. We build and operate high-scale distributed systems and collaborate with our partners in product, engineering, and content to deliver solutions to complex problems. As a manager on the team, you will lead a group of talented and experienced software engineers to design, build, and operate foundational systems that ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of our content at scale.
About the Team
The Studio Engineering organization builds and operates the products and platforms that power content creation from pre-production through launch. The Launch Readiness team owns the systems that enable our content operations teams to deliver our content with high quality, on time, and at scale to our members around the world. Our solutions simplify complex workflows, automate manual processes, and provide visibility into the content delivery pipeline.
What you will do:
- Lead, coach, and grow a team of experienced and talented software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Drive the technical strategy, roadmap, and execution for the Launch Readiness Team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and broader Studio Engineering initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with product management, design, and other engineering teams to define requirements, prioritize features, and deliver impactful solutions for our partners.
- Oversee the design, development, deployment, and operation of high-scale distributed systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability.
- Champion best practices for software development, testing, monitoring, and incident response, ensuring the quality and stability of our systems.
- Contribute to the broader Studio Engineering leadership team, helping to shape our technical vision, strategy, and culture.
- Represent the team and its capabilities to stakeholders across the company, effectively communicating our progress, challenges, and opportunities.
What you will bring:
- 5+ years of experience leading and managing high-performing software engineering teams.
- 8+ years of experience in software development, with a strong background in building and operating distributed systems at scale.
- Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
- Proven track record of delivering complex technical projects from conception to production.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Experience in the entertainment industry or media supply chain is a plus.
