Tasks
- Perform a complete physical examination
- Order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures
- Formulate a diagnosis, treatment plan or course of action
- Prescribe medication and treatments
- Provide emergency care
- Provide health promotion and illness prevention education
- Provide health care to families
- Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues
- Act as a consultant to other physicians
- Refer patients to other physicians or to hospitals
- Conduct medical research
- Administer or order diagnostic tests
- Care for patients with a range of conditions and provide preventative care
