Specific skills

  • Develop and implement policies, programs, and initiatives related to Indigenous affairs
  • Conduct research and analysis on issues affecting Indigenous communities
  • Provide advice and recommendations to senior management on Indigenous affairs matters
  • Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, governments, and other stakeholders
  • Represent the organization in meetings and negotiations with partners and stakeholders
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and other communication materials
  • Manage projects and initiatives from conception to completion
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives
  • Participate in strategic planning and organizational development activities
  • Supervise staff and manage budgets as required

Experience and expertise

  • Experience working for a Métis Government, community, or organization in a related field.
  • Experience in policy research, analysis, and development.
  • Experience in strategic planning, program development, and implementation.
  • Experience in project management including planning, monitoring, and financial management.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities.
  • Experience working with senior leaders, including elected officials.
  • Experience representing an organization or government in meetings with partners and stakeholders.

Skills and abilities

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of Métis culture, history, and political landscape.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous rights and issues in Canada.
  • Ability to travel to various locations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a clear criminal reference check.
