A Labour Lawyer advises and represents clients on various labour and employment law matters. This role involves handling collective bargaining, employment contracts, wrongful dismissal claims, labour disputes, arbitrations, and litigation. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in labour law, possess strong analytical skills, and be a member in good standing of a provincial bar.
Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on labour law, including collective bargaining, employment contracts, and wrongful dismissal claims
- Represent clients in labour disputes, arbitrations, and litigation
- Conduct legal research and analysis
- Prepare legal documents, including opinions, briefs, and pleadings
- Negotiate settlements
- Maintain client relationships
- Stay up-to-date on changes in labour law
Prerequisites:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, Law degree (JD or LLB)
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience practicing labour law
- Professional Certifications/Licenses: Member in good standing of a provincial bar (e.g., Law Society of Ontario)
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, Excellent communication and negotiation skills, Ability to work independently and as part of a team, Attention to detail, Proficiency in legal research software and Microsoft Office Suite
