About This Role
As a data analyst supporting the Military Health System (MHS), you will play a crucial role in leveraging data to drive insights and improve healthcare outcomes for military personnel and their families. You will work with a diverse team of experts to analyze complex healthcare datasets, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to MHS stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement data collection strategies and systems to ensure data quality and integrity.
- Clean, transform, and analyze large datasets from various MHS sources.
- Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau or Power BI to visualize key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends.
- Conduct in-depth statistical analysis to identify patterns, correlations, and anomalies in healthcare data.
- Collaborate with MHS stakeholders, including clinicians, administrators, and researchers, to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights.
- Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences in a clear and concise manner.
- Support the development and implementation of data-driven solutions to improve patient care, operational efficiency, and resource allocation within the MHS.
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in data analytics and healthcare.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Public Health, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in a healthcare or public health setting.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong understanding of statistical concepts and methodologies.
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards and terminology (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, HL7).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with machine learning techniques and predictive modeling.
- Knowledge of database management systems.
- Experience working with federal government clients, particularly within the MHS or other DoD components.
- Certifications in data analytics or related fields (e.g., Tableau Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).
