MHS Data Analyst

We collaborate with government agencies, non-profits, and private sector organizations to address complex public health challenges, develop evidence-based strategies, and implement impactful programs.

About This Role

As a data analyst supporting the Military Health System (MHS), you will play a crucial role in leveraging data to drive insights and improve healthcare outcomes for military personnel and their families. You will work with a diverse team of experts to analyze complex healthcare datasets, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to MHS stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement data collection strategies and systems to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Clean, transform, and analyze large datasets from various MHS sources.
  • Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau or Power BI to visualize key performance indicators (KPIs) and trends.
  • Conduct in-depth statistical analysis to identify patterns, correlations, and anomalies in healthcare data.
  • Collaborate with MHS stakeholders, including clinicians, administrators, and researchers, to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights.
  • Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences in a clear and concise manner.
  • Support the development and implementation of data-driven solutions to improve patient care, operational efficiency, and resource allocation within the MHS.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in data analytics and healthcare.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Public Health, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in a healthcare or public health setting.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong understanding of statistical concepts and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards and terminology (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, HL7).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques and predictive modeling.
  • Knowledge of database management systems.
  • Experience working with federal government clients, particularly within the MHS or other DoD components.
  • Certifications in data analytics or related fields (e.g., Tableau Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate).
