We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Principal Compliance Associate to join our growing team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring our adherence to global regulatory requirements, particularly within the dynamic cryptocurrency and financial services landscape. You will advise on complex compliance matters, develop and implement robust internal controls, and lead initiatives to mitigate regulatory risk. This is a remote position open to candidates based in the USA.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance programs, policies, and procedures in line with relevant laws and regulations (e.g., AML, KYC, sanctions, consumer protection).
- Conduct in-depth compliance risk assessments and identify areas for improvement, implementing solutions to address identified gaps.
- Provide expert guidance and interpretation of regulatory requirements to internal stakeholders, including product, legal, and engineering teams.
- Manage regulatory inquiries, examinations, and audits, acting as a primary point of contact.
- Oversee and enhance transaction monitoring systems and suspicious activity reporting processes.
- Stay abreast of evolving regulatory landscapes in cryptocurrency and traditional finance, proactively recommending adjustments to our compliance framework.
- Train and mentor junior compliance team members, fostering a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate compliance requirements into new products and services.
Prerequisites (Requirements/Qualifications):
- Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or risk management within the financial services, fintech, or cryptocurrency industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field. Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, CRCM) preferred.
- Skills:
- Deep understanding of AML/CFT regulations, sanctions programs (OFAC), and data privacy laws.
- Proven ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into actionable business requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and external regulators.
- Experience with compliance technology tools and systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote environment.
