We’re looking for a Staff or Principal Engineer to lead the design and implementation of infrastructure components like our multi-region Kubernetes clusters, monitoring, logging, tracing, storage, and networking. We build tools that make it easy for product development teams to deploy and operate their services reliably and scalably. If you have deep experience operating cloud-native infrastructure, thrive in a remote, fast-paced environment, and want to make a huge impact by accelerating the growth of one of the world’s largest open-source projects, this is the job for you!
What you’ll do
- Collaborate with other Infrastructure Engineering teams to design, implement, and operate our core Infrastructure Platform on GCP.
- Write and review technical proposals and design documents (RFCs).
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code, ensuring our systems are robust, scalable, and secure.
- Be a technical domain expert on multiple Infrastructure Platform areas (e.g., Kubernetes, Observability, Networking, Storage).
- Debug complex problems across the entire stack and participate in on-call rotations.
- Lead large, cross-functional projects from inception to completion.
- Mentor and guide less-experienced engineers.
- Provide technical leadership, architectural guidance, and best practices to other engineering teams.
- Influence and contribute to the broader Infrastructure Engineering strategy.
What you’ll bring
- 8+ years of experience in an Infrastructure, Site Reliability (SRE), or DevOps role.
- 5+ years of experience with Kubernetes at scale in a production environment.
- Deep knowledge of cloud-native technologies and distributed systems.
- Strong expertise in at least one major cloud provider (GCP, AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Go, Python, Ruby, Java, etc.).
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Chef, Ansible, Pulumi).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in a remote work environment is a plus.
- Experience working on a large-scale, open-source project is a plus.
