Principal Platform Engineer

As a Principal Platform Engineer, you’ll be a key technical leader, responsible for driving the architecture, design, and implementation of critical platform components and infrastructure that power our cutting-edge analytical products.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the architectural design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, reliable, and performant platform services and infrastructure.
  • Drive the adoption of best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns across the engineering team.
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and other engineering teams to define technical requirements and translate them into robust solutions.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance our platform capabilities and developer experience.
  • Champion reliability, security, and operational excellence throughout the platform lifecycle.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring high availability and performance of production systems.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as needed to support critical platform services.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software development, with a strong focus on platform engineering, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Expertise in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Scala).
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Extensive experience with microservices architecture, APIs, and RESTful principles.
  • Proficiency in database technologies (relational and NoSQL) and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) is a plus.
  • Experience in the financial services domain or working with large-scale data platforms is a plus.
