About the Team
The Formats & Contributions team is at the heart of how Reddit works. We own the core content formats (think posts, comments, images, videos, polls) and the creation experiences that enable redditors to share their content with the world. Our mission is to empower redditors to express themselves authentically and to ensure their content is experienced in the most engaging and relevant ways possible.
As a Principal Product Designer on this team, you will shape the future of how redditors contribute their content and how that content is experienced on Reddit. This role requires an expert in content creation and consumption platforms, with a strong portfolio of shipping products that empower users to express themselves.
What You’ll Do
- Be a key player in defining product strategy, vision, and roadmap for our core content creation and consumption experiences.
- Lead the entire design process, from discovery and ideation to detailed design and launch, ensuring a high bar for quality and user experience.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, user researchers, and other designers to translate complex problems into elegant, intuitive, and impactful design solutions.
- Champion user-centered design principles and advocate for our users throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Mentor and provide guidance to other designers, contributing to the overall growth and development of the design team.
- Present design solutions and strategies to stakeholders at all levels, articulating design decisions and their impact.
- Contribute to the broader design system and best practices, ensuring consistency and efficiency across products.
What We Can Expect From You
- 8+ years of experience designing and shipping successful consumer-facing products.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in product thinking, interaction design, visual design, and user-centered design principles.
- Proven experience leading complex design projects from end-to-end, with a track record of delivering impactful results.
- Expertise in designing for content creation and consumption platforms, with a deep understanding of user behaviors and motivations in these spaces.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and strategies effectively.
- Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
