The Role
We’re looking for a Program Director to lead a suite of US-based unrestricted cash transfer programs, managing program design, implementation, and evaluation, and stewarding internal and external relationships. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about poverty alleviation, with a proven track record in program leadership and team management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead program design, implementation, and evaluation for a portfolio of US-based unrestricted cash transfer programs.
- Manage and grow a small team (3-4 FTEs) of Program Managers and Associates, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Serve as the primary client relationship manager for funders and partners for your programs.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Policy, Fundraising, Finance, Operations, Tech, HR) to ensure program success.
- Lead the development of grant proposals, reports, and other donor-facing materials.
- Manage program budgets and ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Oversee program M&E, including developing and implementing learning agendas and ensuring data collection/reporting.
- Contribute to the strategic vision of the US Cash program and organization-wide initiatives.
- Represent the organization at external events and in media engagements.
Prerequisites
- 7+ years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing complex programs or projects.
- Experience managing teams, including hiring, performance management, and professional development.
- Experience managing complex relationships with diverse stakeholders (funders, government partners, community organizations).
- Experience with program design, implementation, and evaluation, ideally in the social sector or public policy.
- Experience in the US context, particularly with direct cash transfer programs, social safety nets, or poverty alleviation initiatives, is a strong plus.
- Exceptional project management skills, including budgeting, timeline management, and risk mitigation.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal), ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to drive results in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
