We are seeking a seasoned strategist and people leader to serve as the Program Director, Movement Strategy. This is a newly created position that will play a critical role in advancing our mission to build powerful, values-aligned movements for social, economic, and climate justice. We are a fast-paced, high-impact organization committed to building a diverse and inclusive staff and culture. As a Program Director, you will be responsible for leading a team of experienced campaigners and strategists to develop and implement innovative strategies that shift power, build lasting change, and win concrete victories for people and the planet. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development and execution of strategic campaigns and initiatives that align with our mission and theory of change.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of experienced campaigners and strategists, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key partners, coalitions, and funders, representing the organization with integrity and impact.
- Ensure the effective and ethical stewardship of program resources, including budget management and grant reporting.
- Contribute to the organization’s strategic planning and organizational development, working closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership team.
- Represent the organization in public forums, media engagements, and strategic convenings, articulating our vision and impact.
- Contribute to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organizational culture.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in movement building, advocacy, or campaigning, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful strategies that achieve measurable impact.
- Deep understanding of social, economic, and climate justice issues, and a commitment to intersectional approaches.
- Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with budget management, grant reporting, and resource stewardship.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing circumstances.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent lived experience). Master’s degree preferred.
