About the Grafana Mimir Team
The Grafana Mimir team is responsible for developing and maintaining Grafana Mimir, our open source, horizontally scalable, long-term storage for Prometheus. Mimir is written in Go and uses object storage (S3, GCS, Azure Blob Storage) for long-term storage.
What you’ll do as a Senior Backend Engineer at Grafana Labs
* Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from ideation to production.
* Improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of Mimir’s core components.
* Design and implement new features and services within the Mimir ecosystem.
* Collaborate closely with other engineers, product managers, and designers.
* Contribute to the open source community by improving Mimir and other related projects.
* Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence.
What you’ll need to be successful
* 5+ years of experience in backend development, with a strong understanding of Go.
* Proven experience designing, building, and operating high-scale distributed systems.
* Strong understanding of observability principles and tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Tempo).
* Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
* Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* A passion for open source and community contributions.
* Experience with Kubernetes is a plus.
* Experience with Prometheus is a plus.
