The Role
Our client, a leading innovator in digital assets and payments, seeks an experienced Bank Regulatory Senior Counsel to advise on legal and regulatory matters concerning its products and services. This is a crucial role for a company at the forefront of financial innovation.
What you’ll do:
- Provide legal advice on complex and evolving U.S. bank regulatory matters, including those related to digital assets, stablecoins, payments, and financial services.
- Counsel product, business, and engineering teams on new products and services, ensuring compliance with applicable banking laws and regulations.
- Engage with U.S. bank regulators (e.g., OCC, Federal Reserve, FDIC) and state banking departments.
- Advise on licensing requirements, compliance programs, and regulatory examinations.
- Draft and negotiate agreements with financial institutions and other third parties.
- Monitor and analyze legal and regulatory developments relevant to the company’s business.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on regulatory strategy and advocacy efforts.
What you’ll bring:
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.
- 7+ years of experience advising on U.S. bank regulatory matters, with a focus on fintech, digital assets, or payments.
- Experience working in-house at a financial institution, fintech company, or relevant government agency (e.g., Federal Reserve, OCC, FDIC) strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of banking laws and regulations (e.g., BSA/AML, Reg E, Reg CC, GLBA, Dodd-Frank, money transmission laws).
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
