A Senior Director, Trucks and Off-Road is sought to lead the expansion of clean transportation technologies in the commercial vehicle market. This role focuses on the decarbonization of commercial vehicles and equipment, aligning with climate and air quality goals. The Senior Director will drive policy, technology development, and market adoption to accelerate the transition to zero-emission commercial vehicles across various applications including medium- and heavy-duty trucks, buses, port equipment, and other off-road sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic initiatives for the Trucks & Off-Road program, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry trends.
- Program Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of projects related to zero-emission commercial vehicles and equipment.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, government agencies, research institutions, and other key stakeholders.
- Policy Advocacy: Lead efforts to influence policy and regulatory frameworks at federal, state, and local levels to support the adoption of clean transportation technologies.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of project managers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Fundraising and Business Development: Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships, to support program activities.
- Thought Leadership: Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and public forums, serving as a subject matter expert on trucks and off-road decarbonization.
Prerequisites:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Policy, Business, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in the clean transportation, automotive, or heavy-duty vehicle industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior management role.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial vehicle technologies, including electric vehicles, fuel cells, and alternative fuels, as well as relevant charging/fueling infrastructure.
- Policy Expertise: Strong knowledge of transportation policy, regulations, and funding mechanisms at federal and state levels.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, manage complex projects, and drive strategic initiatives.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and policy issues to diverse audiences.
- Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with industry, government, and non-profit stakeholders.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement long-term strategies, anticipate industry trends, and adapt to evolving market conditions.
