As a Senior Software Engineer at Buildout, you’ll join a small but mighty team (we’re at just 5 engineers right now) to ship an ambitious roadmap. We’re an early-stage startup focused on bringing high quality software to the commercial real estate industry. We’re a growing team that values transparency, autonomy, and continuous learning.
What you’ll do
- Ship features that solve customer problems, collaborating with product, design, and other engineers along the way.
- Improve existing features to make them more reliable, performant, and delightful.
- Participate in technical design and architectural discussions, contributing your expertise and perspective.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, helping them grow their skills and careers.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and mutual support.
- Support our systems in production, responding to incidents and continuously improving our operational excellence.
What we’re looking for
- You have 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a strong track record of shipping high-quality software.
- You have deep expertise in at least one modern web framework (e.g., Rails, Django, Node.js, React, Vue.js), and are comfortable working across the stack.
- You are proficient in SQL and have experience working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- You write clean, testable, and maintainable code, and are proficient with version control (e.g., Git).
- You are an excellent communicator, able to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- You are a collaborative team player, eager to share knowledge and learn from others.
- You have a bias for action and a strong sense of ownership.
- You have experience working in an agile environment.
- Bonus points if you have experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
