As a Senior Software Engineer for Localization, you will be part of the Localization Engineering team, which is responsible for building and maintaining the tools and infrastructure for localizing Mozilla products, including Firefox and Pocket. Your role will involve working on the full stack of localization engineering, from developer-facing tools, processes, and automation, to internal APIs and user-facing dashboards.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain localization tools and infrastructure
- Implement new features, improve existing features, and fix bugs in our systems
- Work on the full stack of localization engineering, from developer-facing tools, processes, and automation, to internal APIs and user-facing dashboards
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate localization into their development workflows
- Work with localization program managers and localizers to understand their needs and develop solutions
- Contribute to the overall architecture and strategy of localization engineering
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and collaboration
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on web technologies
- Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience with web frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, Node.js)
- Experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Angular)
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
- Familiarity with localization concepts and processes is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team
- A passion for open source and Mozilla’s mission
