Senior Technical Writer

About the Role

Join the team as a Senior Technical Writer. This role will contribute to the ongoing success of our clients by helping to deliver high-quality, customer-facing technical documentation for FICO’s cloud-based products. You will join an existing team of writers and will be responsible for creating and maintaining various forms of technical documentation in an agile development environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Work as part of a collaborative documentation team, actively participating in an agile development environment.
  • Write and edit new and existing customer-facing documentation, including user guides, API guides, integration guides, release notes, and online help, for a variety of software products.
  • Interview subject matter experts, such as product managers, business analysts, and software developers, to gather information and ensure the accuracy of documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, support, and quality assurance teams across different geographies and time zones.
  • Manage documentation through the entire development life cycle, from planning to release.
  • Adhere to established styles, standards, and processes, ensuring that documentation is consistent, accurate, and audience-appropriate.
  • Organize and maintain content, using appropriate tools, to support continuous delivery.
  • Ensure all content is available in a consistent and secure manner to customers, partners, and employees.
  • Contribute to documentation team processes and practices, helping to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

  • BA/BS degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience as a technical writer for enterprise software or SaaS products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong grasp of grammar, style, and effective content organization.
  • Experience with a structured authoring approach, such as DITA or similar XML-based authoring.
  • Proficiency with authoring tools such as Oxygen XML Editor, MadCap Flare, or similar.
  • Experience working with CCMS (Content Component Management System) tools.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and explain complex concepts clearly.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Familiarity with financial services software or data analytics a plus.
  • Portfolio of writing samples.
