Sr. Claims Specialist – Professional Liability | E&O, D&O, EPL

As a Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for the direct handling of all aspects of professional liability claims including coverage analysis, liability and damage assessment, litigation management, and resolution strategy through close working relationships with outside counsel, clients and carriers.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manages professional liability claims from opening to close with minimal supervision.
- Responsible for coverage analysis and determinations, liability investigation and analysis, damage assessment, litigation management, settlement negotiation and evaluation.
- Maintains a diary and timely resolution of claims to ensure that claims are handled within the appropriate jurisdictional and client guidelines.
- Directs and monitors defense counsel regarding litigation and trial strategy, costs, budgets and reporting requirements.
- Prepares reports including financial tracking, loss projections, and claim reviews.
- Delivers quality and timely service to internal and external customers.
- Works with client to develop specific client protocol and service instructions.
- Engages in special projects as needed.
- Handles other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required; Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree preferred.
Experience: 5+ years of professional liability claims handling experience.
- Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgment to resolve claims.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to resolve conflicts, negotiate and deliver difficult messages.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Licenses/Certifications: Adjuster license as required by the state.
