We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Sr. Counsel, Product to join our growing legal team. In this role, you will be a critical partner to our product, engineering, and business teams, providing legal guidance across the entire product lifecycle. You’ll ensure our products are compliant with global laws and regulations while supporting our innovative approach to business growth.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a trusted advisor and business partner to our Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales teams.
- Provide practical and actionable legal advice on new and existing products and features across the entire product lifecycle, from initial ideation to launch and post-launch maintenance.
- Review product features, privacy statements, terms of service, and user interfaces to ensure legal compliance and mitigate risk, particularly in areas related to data privacy, intellectual property, consumer protection, and cybersecurity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement legal strategies for product development, launch, and expansion into new markets.
- Draft, negotiate, and review a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, partnership agreements, and licensing agreements.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices affecting the SaaS industry, data privacy (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), and B2B software, and communicate implications to stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver training to internal teams on legal and compliance matters relevant to product development and innovation.
- Identify and assess legal risks associated with product initiatives, providing pragmatic solutions and recommendations.
- Manage external counsel as needed on specialized legal matters.
What You’ll Bring
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with a state bar (preferably California or New York).
- 5-8 years of legal experience, with at least 3 years focused on product counseling in the technology/SaaS industry.
- Strong expertise in data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, CCPA), intellectual property, consumer protection, and cybersecurity.
- Proven ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build strong relationships.
- Sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- Experience working with a global company or on international product launches is a plus.
