The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) role is an opportunity to lead strategic initiatives, cultivate impactful relationships with new and existing retail accounts, and drive significant growth within the retail sector. This role plays a critical part in shaping the market presence of Abbott Diabetes Care’s cutting-edge FreeStyle Libre portfolio.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the development and execution of strategic account plans to achieve sales targets and market share growth within the retail channel.
- Cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders at major retail chains, including buyers, category managers, and senior leadership.
- Negotiate and manage complex contracts, promotions, and agreements to optimize profitability and drive mutual success.
- Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and sales data to identify new opportunities and inform strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, field sales, and commercial teams to ensure seamless execution of programs and initiatives.
- Develop and deliver compelling presentations and business reviews to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage forecasting, budgeting, and resource allocation for assigned accounts.
- Act as a subject matter expert on the FreeStyle Libre portfolio, providing insights and training to retail partners.
- Identify and implement innovative strategies to enhance product visibility, merchandising, and customer engagement in retail environments.
- Resolve account-related issues and challenges promptly and effectively, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in strategic account management, retail sales, or business development within the healthcare, pharmaceutical, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industries.
- Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and driving market share growth in complex retail environments.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical abilities with experience in data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to travel up to 50% for client meetings and industry events.
- Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
